On August 28, the seminar on the promulgation and implementation of international standards for urea formaldehyde slow release fertilizers, jointly sponsored by Shanghai Institute of chemical industry and National Engineering Technology Research Center for slow and controlled release fertilizers, was held in Beijing.
 
 
 
The international standard of urea formaldehyde slow-release fertilizer was established by Jinzhengda group and Shanghai Chemical Research Institute. Liu Gang, convener of the standard and director of the testing center of Shanghai Research Institute of chemical industry, said that the international standard for urea formaldehyde slow-release fertilizer has gone through nearly four years. From the submission of relevant standard materials in September 2013 to the voting in January 2017, the international organization for standardization officially released the standard in March 2017 and officially promulgated it in May this year. In this long process, from query to surprise, and then to praise, China's fertilizer technology has gradually been recognized by international fertilizer peers. Liu Gang stressed that it is hoped that more enterprises and scientific research institutes will participate in the formulation of fertilizer standards and further improve the standard system to lead the development of fertilizer industry.
 
 
 
Liu Gang said that many foreign scientific research institutions and enterprises have little understanding of China's fertilizer products and technologies, and even have historical bias. The process of formulating international standards is a process in which we constantly demonstrate the technology and manufacturing capacity of China's fertilizer industry to the world through a large number of experimental data and examples.

At present, due to the fierce competition in the single urea market, domestic urea has no cost advantage, so enterprises need to have differentiated products to seize the international market. At the same time, the standard is also the key to improve the quality of nitrogen fertilizer, especially urea formaldehyde slow-release fertilizer has high particle strength, is not easy to be broken, no dust, reduces hardening, and is convenient for mechanical fertilization, which plays a good role in promoting the transformation and upgrading of China's nitrogen fertilizer and going out.
 
 
 
Chen Hongkun, executive deputy director of national slow and controlled release fertilizer engineering technology research center and vice president of Jinzhengda group, said that urea formaldehyde slow-release fertilizer is a variety of slow-release fertilizer.
